TRB Webinar: Career Series #3 – Transportation Equity: Community-Building in Action

March 22, 2023

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM (EDT)

Past

In these times of rapid and unprecedented change, the critical need for urgent action in advancing greater workforce diversity and development, innovation and continuous learning, and “people-readiness” at all levels has risen to new levels. Climate change, growing inequality, increasing digitalization, new players and business models highlight the critical role of transportation careers in community-building and achieving equity-centered and sustainable outcomes. TRB hosted the third webinar in this series on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Eastern that spotlighted the development of policies and practices that more fully address inequities and injustices caused and contributed to by transportation. Presenters shared how cross-sector integration can improve access to goods, services, and opportunities in communities. Presenters also discussed the importance of diverse and authentic community participation in driving more equitable policies, programs, practices, and outcomes.

The first webinar in this series, The Future Transportation Workforce is Happening Now!, was held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. The second webinar in this series, Sustainable Mobility: New and Expanding Opportunities, was held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

This webinar was sponsored by TRB’s Executive Office.
