Traffic safety technologies for detecting driver impairment rapidly evolve and gain traction. Understanding the current landscape, opportunities, and future potential of in-vehicle impairment detection is crucial for guiding industry innovation, shaping effective policies, and ultimately saving lives on our roads. TRB hosted a webinar on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM Eastern that explored in-vehicle impairment detection technologies, including current applications, opportunities, limitations, and future implications. Presenters shared the complexities and challenges involved in impairment detection and developing driver monitoring systems. Presenters also provided considerations for consumer trust and acceptance of these emerging technologies.

The first 60 minutes of the webinar were for presentations and the final 30 minutes were reserved for audience questions.
