Rapid scientific advances and the capacity to conduct life science research are expanding around the world, bringing concerns about unintended impacts of this research on the environment, human well-being, or the deliberate misuse to cause harm. This report describes efforts to address dual use issues through international institutes to help life sciences faculty teach about responsible conduct of science. This report provides a framework for the institutes, the prototype for which was tested in the Middle East-North Africa (MENA) region.
