Activating Health Professionals to Lead Climate Action

This free event, hosted by NAM/IHI/HCWH/Practice Greenhealth, will showcase stories of health care professional activation and leadership in decarbonization. Attendees will hear from organizational leaders who worked to raise awareness and engage members of the health care workforce in efforts to lower carbon emissions – and health care professionals who successfully used their collective voice to advocate for their organizations to commit to emissions reductions goals and priorities. Attendees will also learn about educational resources on climate and health action to further their own learning and share with their colleagues.

Discription: This webinar will showcase stories of health care professionals and trainees leading and advocating for climate action. Attendees will hear from health care leaders from various disciplines and stages in their career journeys organizing their peers to use their collective voice to advocate for environmental sustainability. Attendees will also learn about educational resources on climate and health action to further their own learning and share with their colleagues.

Objectives: After this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe effective strategies to engage peers to advocate for climate action

  2. Raise awareness among their organizations of opportunities to lead climate adaptation and mitigation

  3. List educational resources on climate and health

Ideal Audience: Anyone involved or interested in getting involved in climate and health care – including leaders at all levels; professionals of all disciplines; people working in education and health care
