Description

The Frontiers Research Foundation (FRF) is organizing the “Frontiers Planet Prize”, a program with the goal of accelerating scientific solutions for healthy lives on a healthy planet. The program will begin in the area of sustainability science through the launch of the Frontiers Planet Prize competition for scientific breakthroughs that have the greatest potential to stabilize the planet's ecosystem.
The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) serve as the U.S. National Representative Body for the Frontiers Planet Prize, and will convene a group of leading sustainability scientists, scientific leaders, and experts to review U.S.-based submissions for the Prize and recommend the final selection of the U.S. nominee(s). Scientists who lead a research team and reported their breakthrough research within the 2 years prior to the launch of the Prize competition are eligible for the prize. This is a mission-driven prize that aims to recognize scientific contributions in the sustainability space with demonstrable potential and impact at planetary scale. National champions will be honored at an awards ceremony in Switzerland, at a special session of the Frontiers Forum, “A Sustainable Planet - Pushing the Boundaries of Science.” In addition, NASEM will support the dissemination and amplification efforts in the call for proposals. Should a U.S.-based scientist nominee be awarded the Frontiers Prize, NASEM agrees to support the dissemination of the work to maximize reach and impact.
