The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize and convene a 1-day workshop on the role of public infrastructure in effective climate mitigation and adaptation. The workshop will explore the state of public infrastructure in relation to climate change mitigation and adaptation needs.

Description

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine proposes to organize a 1-day workshop on the role of public infrastructure in effective climate mitigation and adaptation.

This workshop will explore the state of public infrastructure in relation to climate change mitigation and adaptation needs, and address several questions including::

1) What is meant by infrastructure in relation to environmental change?

2) What do we know about the contribution of public infrastructure in supporting socially just, sustainable, and effective responses to rapid social-environmental change?

3) How are the fields of engineering, economics/social science, and policy and law addressing the prospects for climate risk reduction through public infrastructure?

A proceedings-in-brief will be produced in accordance with institutional guidelines.
