Description
A planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize and conduct a public workshop to explore the use and application of implementation science (IS) in health professions education (HPE). Invited presentations will provide a foundation for discussing the role of IS in HPE; how best to build capacity for implementation science within health professions education institutions including the training and introduction of IS to HPE leaders, faculty and health workforce researchers; and how educators could apply IS to scale and spread evidence based practices within HPE systems. In this way, a workshop would aim to learn from local and global researchers studying how to apply research findings into educational areas such as:
- the role of high stakes testing for admission into HPE schools and programs;
- addressing social determinants and equity in education;
- using telehealth and telemedicine in HPE;
- applying artificial intelligence in HPE; and
- using simulation in interprofessional education
Following the workshop, a proceedings of the presentations and discussions will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
