Review of the Dietary Reference Intakes for Sodium and Potassium

Completed

The Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) are a set of evidence-based nutrient reference values for intakes that include the full range of age, gender, and life stage groups in the US and Canada. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will convene an ad hoc committee to assess current relevant data and update, as appropriate, the DRIs for sodium and potassium intake. The review will consider indicators of deficiency, inadequacy, toxicities, and chronic disease endpoints. The committee will outline research gaps to address the uncertainties identified in the process of deriving the DRIs and evaluating public health implications.
