This 2015 workshop featured presentations and panel discussions regarding use of advanced technologies for radiation therapy and surgery in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Topics included: clinical benefits and comparative effectiveness of emerging technologies for cancer treatment in radiation and surgery; current utilization patterns of radiation and surgical technologies in oncology practice; evidence on the overuse, underuse, and misuse of these technologies; and potential strategies to assess the value and define optimal use of new medical technologies in cancer treatment.
