Completed
Research globalization is on the rise, as seen through increases in international co-authorship of articles, growth of R&D investment abroad, and other indicators. At this GUIRR meeting, participants looked at how research globalization is impacting U.S. R&D within the context of ensuring national security and economic prosperity, and what roles the government, university, and industry sectors may play in this new globalized environment.
Description
An ad hoc committee will organize a public workshop on understanding research globalization in the context of national security and prosperity. The committee will identify key participants from the government, university, and industry sectors to present and participate. The focus will be on how the benefits and costs of research globalization are being weighed by leadership in each GUIRR sector and what actions U.S. enterprises in each sector can take to catalyze successful research in a globalized context while sustaining U.S. security and prosperity. A brief, individually-authored meeting summary will be issued.
