The first meeting of the Committee on Thursday, January 16 was held in a closed session from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. An open session was held from 12:00-1:00 pm ET on "Perspectives from the Department of Energy". The closed session resumed from 1:00-3:00 pm. During closed sessions the Committee discussed its composition, balance, and conflicts; the National Academies policies and processes; the study task statement; and began discussions on the approach to public information gathering workshops.
