A New Era: The Early Years of the National Academy of Medicine
The years after the establishment of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) in 2015 were marked by unprecedented crises in the United States and abroad, including the COVID-19 pandemic and other pandemic infectious diseases, climate change, racial injustice, and an erosion of trust in government and science. The following chapters describe how the NAM advanced new strategic priorities and developed program models to achieve impact amid a challenging and rapidly evolving landscape—ushering in a dynamic new era for the organization.
