Do you have any unique vehicles that operate on your airport(s) vehicle service roads (VSRs)?
Are there any restrictions on certain vehicles utilizing VSRs (due to size, weight, etc.)?
Planning and Design
What are your biggest VSR challenges? What strategies have been implemented to resolve these challenges?
Are there separate VSR operational areas within the airfield?
Does your airport have VSRs restricted to specific users or operating conditions (nighttime, adverse weather)? If so, what protocols are used to prevent certain users from accessing the VSRs?
Are there any unconventional intersections or configurations of VSRs at your airport(s)?
Have you completed any traffic volume studies on VSRs? If so, what was studied, and what were the recommended improvements?
What design specifications do you utilize for your VSRs?
Does your airport have any VSR tunnels or ramps? If so, what operating restrictions exist (e.g., vertical clearances, restrictions on hazardous materials, vehicles using certain fuel types)?
Operations
Do you have any unique aspects to your driver’s training program?
What are the posted speed limits on VSRs, and how are they monitored and enforced?
How are pedestrians protected from VSR activity?
Do you have any unique elements incorporated into your VSRs (e.g., painted speed limits, unique markings, frangible delineators, etc.)? What led to the development of these unique elements?
Maintenance and Construction
Do you utilize a pavement management system for your VSRs?
What type of preventive maintenance is completed?
Are there any unique rules or design standards for VSRs used for construction?
