Description

The Air Force Studies Board at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will establish a Roundtable on Capability Development Planning and Technology Transition in the Department of the Air Force. The roundtable will meet three times annually to (1) define and explore technology transition mechanisms and pipelines for speed and effectiveness and (2) identify actions to streamline and accelerate technology transition processes across the Department of the Air Force (DAF).

The roundtable will be comprised of senior representatives from government, industry, and academia with experience in military/dual use of commercial technologies. The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Science, Technology and Engineering will serve as a member of the roundtable in an ex officio capacity.

Topics for discussion will be determined jointly by the Director and the Chair of the roundtable, with input from the members. The roundtable will be designed to facilitate timely and open dialogue among participants to promote more effective partnerships between the DAF acquisition community and its industry and academic innovators, and where appropriate to carry awareness of challenges and issues to the wider Department of Defense audience.

All activities of the Roundtable will be conducted in accordance with institutional guidelines described in “Roundtables: Policy and Procedures.”
