Watch Video on Navigating the Energy Transition in the Gulf of Mexico: A Workshop
In December 2022, the Gulf Research Program hosted a two-day workshop in Washington, DC, “Navigating the Energy Transition in the Gulf of Mexico,” to examine what the future of the energy transition in the Gulf might look like and the corresponding challenges and opportunities that plausibly could emerge. Twenty-two individuals—representing diverse perspectives from industry, government, nongovernmental organizations, communities, and academia—participated. The workshop generated a wealth of insights on what is yet to come with the energy transition and ideas on how to leverage opportunities and mitigate negative consequences.
The GRP takes a look back at the event that took lives and changed the Gulf Region forever. Some leaders who responded to the event are featured, including National Academies’ president, Dr. Marcia McNutt.
Offshore Situation Room is an event in which participants discover knowledge and policy gaps through interactive "serious" games, presentations, and small group discussions. The results will be widely shared with the broader community with the goal of increasing resiliency to oil disasters in the Gulf of Mexico.
