Description
An ad hoc committee will plan and conduct a 2-day public workshop to:
• identify the most commonly used definitions of character and character education;
• delineate similarities and differences between character and interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies such as collaboration, persistence, and self-management;
• discuss research on promising practices in character education; and
• explore challenges and opportunities for measuring both character and the efficacy of character education programs.
The committee will plan and organize the workshop, select and invite speakers and discussants, and moderate the discussions. A rapporteur will prepare a written summary of the discussions of the workshop, consistent with institutional guidelines.
