Towards a Future of Environmental Health Sciences - A Workshop

This workshop will consider emerging scientific and technological advances to inform scientific, technical, and policy needs and enablers of this future. Participants are expected to explore how to reach the desired futures by considering topics such as: 1) expanding the mental model and normalizing the language of environmental health; and 2) frameworks for identifying the breadth of stakeholder diversity needed.

Description

An ad hoc planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize and convene a public workshop to model environmental health futures that integrates biomedical, disease-specific, and prevention research, and is conducted across the continuum from fundamental discovery research to applications to public health. The workshop will consider emerging scientific and technological advances to inform scientific, technical, and policy needs and enablers of this future. Participants are expected to explore how to reach the desired futures by considering topics such as: 1) expanding the mental model and normalizing the language of environmental health; and 2) frameworks for identifying the breadth of stakeholder diversity needed.
A Proceedings-in-Brief will be prepared by rapporteurs in accordance with institutional guidelines.
