Power outages affect airport operations in myriad ways. One solution to mitigate the risks associated with power outages is for airports to increase their self-sufficiency for power generation. TRB hosted a webinar on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM Eastern that introduced the Airport Microgrid Implementation Toolkit in detail. Presenters explained how microgrids work and discussed important considerations for successful implementation at a specific location. The Airport Microgrid Implementation Toolkit is a web-based resource to inform airport stakeholders about the capabilities of microgrids. Presenters also highlighted the results from a case study conducted with Massport’s Hanscom airport.
The webinar features research from ACRP Report 228: Airport Microgrid Implementation Toolkit.
The slides are linked in the meeting materials. View the recorded webinar below.
