Description
A National Academies planning committee will organize a series of approximately 5 workshops to examine the cybersecurity and broader resilience of the nation's computing and communications systems and discuss technical developments and public policy options that could enhance their resilience. This workshop series continues the work of a previous series (see DEPS-CSTB-16-02) that focused on similar topics. New workshop topics will be identified by the planning committee in consultation with members of the Academies' Forum on Cyber Resilience and will fall within the scope of the Forum. Potential workshop topics include policies and infrastructure frameworks to enhance data security; zero-trust security architecture and deployment; policies and technologies to address ransomware; cybersecurity in transportation systems; supply chain vulnerabilities and defenses; cybersecurity implications of foreign investments and foreign participation in research, development, and manufacturing of advanced technologies; cybersecurity and resilience of critical cyber-physical infrastructure; cybersecurity implications of misinformation and disinformation; regulations and incentive structures to enhance IoT security; and technical attributes and applications of cryptography to resilience. Either a rapporteur-authored workshop proceedings or proceedings-in-brief, chosen as appropriate to convey key ideas effectively and in a timely manner, will be prepared for each workshop.
