Birth Settings in America: Outcomes, Quality, Access, and Choice (2020), a report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, identifies ways to improve childbirth services across all settings – hospitals, birth centers, and homes. While the majority of births in the United States occur in hospital settings, a small but growing percentage of pregnant individuals are choosing to give birth in home or birth center settings in the United States.

Two members of the expert committee that authored Birth in America will discuss what we know about outcomes in home and birth center settings and opportunities for improving outcomes, access, quality, and choice in these settings.

Birth Settings in America: Outcomes, Quality, Access, and Choice (2020), a report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, identifies ways to improve childbirth services across birth settings—hospitals, birth centers, and homes. The majority of births in America occur in the hospital setting. However, as the report finds, hospitals vary in the services they provide, and some pregnant individuals experience a gap in the care they expect and want and the care they receive.

Join us on Wednesday, May 27th at 2PM ET to learn about the actions hospital-based providers and health care administrators can take to improve the experiences and outcomes for pregnant individuals and newborns.
