The 2019 Arizona Agribusiness Roundtable will cover a wide range of issues facing the agriculture industry today. This collaborative effort by the Arizona Department of Agriculture and the Agribusiness & Water Council of Arizona offers an opportunity for you to ask questions, share your views and network with fellow ag professionals. Agribusiness is a vast support structure that forms one of the largest economic segments on this planet. It is a significant contributor to the gross domestic product of every country on this globe. It is a huge and essential industry, yet in the eyes of many it remains invisible. This meeting is for farmers, ranchers, agribusiness financiers, equipment suppliers, crop and livestock support services, energy and water providers, agricultural educators, veterinarians and other agribusinesses.

Join host Cathann A. Kress, Vice President for Agricultural Administration and Dean of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES), for the “Converging on Wicked Systems Problems” lecture. It will be held November 18, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Bob Evans Auditorium, Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center with a reception following the lecture. Through presentations and panelists, we will explore the application of transdisciplinary research and systems approaches to solve grand challenges in our food, water, and energy systems. The lecture is part of the 75th Anniversary Board on Agriculture and Natural Resources (BANR) Lecture Series. Presentations and panel discussion will feature Rolf Nordstrom, President and CEO of the Great Plains Institute; Greg Soehnlen, President and CEO of Superior Dairy, Inc.; and Lois Wright Morton, Professor Emeritus of Sociology, Iowa State University, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Kansas State University is pleased to host the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, Board on Agricultural and Natural Resources on April 23-24, 2019. The event will include a lecture on "Harnessing Soil and Plant Microbiomics for Agriculture: Hype, Hope and Reality," provided by keynote speaker, Professor James Prosser with the University of Aberdeen, on April 23, at 3 p.m. in the McVay Family Town Hall, Leadership Studies on the K-State campus. The lecture will be followed by a reception and poster presentation session in the K-State Student Union, Bluemont Room, from 4:30-6 p.m.

Prosser is professor of environmental microbiology in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Aberdeen. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in microbiology by Queen Elizabeth College, University of London in 1972 and a doctorate by the University of Liverpool in 1975. He then carried out postdoctoral research in Liverpool before moving to a lectureship at the University of Aberdeen, where he holds a personal chair.

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Science (UF/IFAS) aligns directly with this legacy by combining all aspects of the land-grant mission (Extension, Research, and Teaching) with disciplines serving agriculture and natural resources throughout the state. UF/IFAS is at the forefront of the intersection of agriculture and natural resources challenges, given the complexity, diversity, and climatic exposure of Florida systems. This BANR celebration event has been designed to highlight challenges that Florida is facing along with potential pathways for advancing its agriculture and natural resources for sustainably increasing benefits to the state.
