An ad hoc committee will convene a 1.5 day public workshop on the state of mobile and web technologies and their usefulness in managing and treating mental health disorders, with special attention to how these may be used to expand and enrich services to Veterans and Active Duty personnel. The public workshop will feature invited presentations and discussions that will focus on topics such as mental health conditions that might be amenable to treatment with apps; the pitfalls associated with using them; how to evaluate clinical outcomes; means of validating and measuring success for apps; and privacy issues. The committee will plan and organize the workshop, select and invite speakers and discussants, and moderate the discussions. A proceedings of the presentations and discussions at the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
