The original purpose of the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) was to deliberate on the causes of, and potential solutions to, the difficulties facing universities and companies when attempting to work together. The overarching philosophy of UIDP was that, by including the entire breadth of interests relevant to university-industry partnering, one could arrive at a set of solutions and innovations. These measures would be robust enough to be widely adoptable by diverse partnerships on a national scale. In July 2015, UIDP fully transitioned out from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine as an independent organization.
Description
Launched in 2006, the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) is designed to enhance the value of collaborative partnerships between university and industry in the United States. Its goals are to (1) bring together thought leaders from the academic and corporate sector that can advance collaborations through new or better approaches; (2) advance the idea-to-innovation process through university-industry collaboration; and (3) serve as a national resource for other parties who benefit from high value university-industry partnerships.
