Empowering Justice 40 Communities: A Workshop on Leveraging Community Benefit Agreements to Support the Department of Energy’s Mandate to Serve Disadvantaged Communities

Completed

A Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) is a legally binding contract that is developed as a means to ensure local residents and neighborhoods directly benefit from large development projects or initiatives. CBAs aim to foster collaboration, equity, and accountability in development processes while providing tangible advantages from a project to the affected community. A National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine planning committee will organize and host a two-day workshop to gather input about implementing CBAs in federally-funded energy infrastructure projects.
