Description
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will establish a Forum on Advancing Diagnostic Excellence to provide a structured environment and neutral venue to discuss data, policies, practices, and systems that affect the quality of diagnosis in health care. The Forum will foster an ongoing dialogue on a range of topics to examine the current scientific landscape and research opportunities for improving diagnosis within the U.S. health care system, with emphasis on conditions and populations with the greatest risk of harm from diagnostic errors. Inspired by previous work at the National Academies, including the 2015 consensus report Improving Diagnosis in Health Care and a subsequent workshop series on Diagnostic Excellence, the Forum will convene key stakeholders to focus on topics of mutual interest.
Forum activities, conducted in accordance with institutional guidelines, will emphasize potential opportunities for action in the field and will include public workshops and webinars.
