Progress Toward Restoring the Everglades:
The Eighth Biennial Review - 2020
Requested by Congress in P.L. 106-541, the Water Resources Development Act of 2000, this new report, from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, is the eighth in a series of biennial reports. It describes substantive accomplishments over the past 2 years and reviews developments in research, monitoring, and assessment that inform restoration decision making. The report also reviews the recently developed Combined Operational Plan, which is a prerequisite for the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) progress in the central Everglades, and examines issues facing the northern and southern estuaries, including priorities for science to support restoration decision making.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on March 16, 2021 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
