U.S. National Committee for Geological Sciences (USNC/IUGS)
The National Academy of Sciences withdrew as the U.S. adhering member of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), effective July 1, 2026, and no longer serves as the U.S. adhering body to the Union. As a result, the U.S. National Committee for Geological Sciences (USNC/IUGS) has been dissolved. This page is retained for historical purposes and reflects the National Academy of Sciences’ former relationship with the International Union of Geological Sciences.
