Shaping Policy to Reduce Inequalities Among LGBTQ Youth: A Webinar

January 13, 2022

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (EST)

Past

Adolescence is a time of remarkable opportunity and growth. But all too often the promise of adolescence is severely curtailed by inequities and discriminatory systems, especially for LGBTQ youth and youth of color. Society has a responsibility to ensure that all youth have the opportunities and support they need to thrive.

Join the Board on Children, Youth, and Families for a webinar exploring policy-relevant recommendations to reduce inequalities among LGBTQ youth.

This virtual webinar will highlight recommendations from the National Academies report The Promise of Adolescence, as well as promising policies and approaches for addressing inequalities among LGBTQ adolescents emerging from the recent National Academies workshop, “Reducing Inequalities Between LGBTQ Adolescents and Cisgender, Heterosexual Adolescents.”

Speakers include:

  • Stephen Russell, University of Texas, Austin
  • Joanna Lee Williams, Rutgers University
  • Park Szachta, MyVoice and University of Michigan
  • Abby Frank, MyVoice and University of Michigan
  • Jama Shelton, Hunter College
  • Kezia Gilyard, Broward County Public Schools
