A planning committee appointed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will plan and execute a virtual 2-day public workshop focused on examining inequalities in mental, emotional, behavioral (MEB), and physical health among LGBTQ youth, what is known about strategies for supporting them, lessons to be learned from these strategies, and how to reduce inequities through programs, practices, and policies. A proceedings of the presentations and discussions at the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.

Description
A planning committee appointed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will plan and execute a virtual 2-day public workshop focused on examining inequalities in mental, emotional, behavioral (MEB), and physical health among LGBTQ youth, what is known about strategies for supporting them, lessons to be learned from these strategies, and how to reduce inequities through programs, practices, and policies. The workshop will focus on the following questions:
1. What is the current evidence on MEB and physical health outcomes among LGBTQ youth, in particular LGBTQ youth of color, and what is known about the relationship between these outcomes on academic performance, later MEB and physical health, and future educational and career success?
2. What is known about the role of interpersonal factors, such as the development of peer, romantic, and sexual relationships social support and social isolation, in relation to MEB and physical health outcomes among LGBTQ youth, and in particular, LGBTQ youth of color?
3. What practices, programs, and policies have shown promise in supporting the MEB and physical health of LGBTQ youth, and in particular LGBTQ youth of color?
