Description
A planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize a public workshop focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in promoting a sustainable future. The workshop will consist of two parts: AI in education and AI in mental health and well-being. The workshop will focus on the following tasks:
- Reviewing AI tools, applications, and strategies in education and mental health across the globe and the implications for sustainable development;
- Highlighting knowledge gaps between academia and the private sector, as well as opportunities and key priorities for promoting sustainability, including startup and local perspectives; and
- Discussing opportunities for cross-sector collaboration, including AI potential to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Workshop discussions will include those topics most relevant to SDGs 3 (good health and well-being), 4 (quality education), and 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure). A Proceedings of a Workshop--in Brief will be prepared by a designated rapporteur and distributed broadly.
