Financing Advanced Energy Technologies

In progress

Join the National Academies Forum on Energy Systems Transformation and Decarbonization for a webinar series that will examine the energy finance ecosystem, including the roles for the public and private sectors in funding different technology stages and types.

Statement of Task

Access to financing is critical for enabling the translation of early-stage research and development in advanced energy technologies to commercially viable products and services. A robust innovation pipeline will be essential for meeting increasing energy demand and maintaining U.S. technological leadership. Integral to the technology commercialization process is the interplay of public and private support, along with larger policy and market factors. This webinar series will provide an overview of the energy finance ecosystem, including different forms, sources, and uses of capital; investment needs by technology stage and type; and the roles for government programs and commercial capital in supporting energy technology development, both in the United States and around the world.
