Responding to the Current Youth Mental Health Crisis and Preventing the Next One: A Virtual Workshop

This Mental Health Awareness Month, the Forum for Children's Well-Being will host a virtual workshop focused on the promotion of positive mental health in children and youth. Over the course of three days, the Forum will bring together expert presentations, lived experience perspectives, and community-level strategies for responding to the current youth mental health crisis and preventing the next one. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy will join the discussion on May 4th at 2p ET.

Description

A planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will organize and convene a virtual, public workshop focused on the promotion of positive mental health in children youth in the context of the mental health crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. It will examine community-level strategies for responding to the current crisis, as well as strategies for preventing future crises. The workshop will consider community contexts and policies that may support effective strategies. The workshop will feature lived experience perspectives and expert presentations. The planning committee will develop the agenda, identify meeting objectives, and select appropriate speakers. A proceedings-in-brief will be prepared by a staff member in accordance with institutional guidelines.
