The workshop will be informed by a bibliometric analysis of current research ongoing in Southeast Asia in neuroscience. The workshop will:

Explore current and cutting-edge developments and applications (both beneficial and harmful uses) of neuroscience and brain-related research through a series of scenario-based exercises, which will be informed by the bibliometric analysis;
Discuss responsible innovation, shared norms, and broader safety and security awareness including bio, cyber, data security practices relevant to neuroscience; and
Discuss which identified responsible science practices are effective and translatable in different national and institutional contexts.

About

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) will convene the second and final workshop in a series, bringing together an international committee of scientists to explore strategies for preventing the malicious exploitation and accidental harmful use of neuroscience research. The workshop will engage researchers from diverse backgrounds to discuss how to integrate safety, security, and responsible innovation into neuroscience, with a focus on bio, cyber, and data security. Additionally, participants will evaluate which responsible science practices are effective and adaptable across different national and institutional contexts.
