The National Academies Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board is pleased to announce the public release of the final report by the Committee on the Disposal of Surplus Plutonium in the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
As requested by Congress, this report evaluates the federal government's plans to dilute and dispose of weapons grade surplus plutonium in the nation's only nuclear waste repository, WIPP, a facility located near Carlsbad, New Mexico. This report is available for free download here.
