On January 27, 2022, the National Academies Committee on Addressing Evidence Gaps in Clinical Prevention Recommendations hosted a webinar on their recently launched report, Closing Evidence Gaps in Clinical Prevention. Experts discussed how researchers, funders, and policy makers can use the clinical prevention evidence gap taxonomy to describe research needs identified by the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). They also discussed strategies to foster clinical prevention research and bolster the work of the USPSTF and other guideline developers. This was the sixth and final session of the fifth meeting of a consensus study aimed at addressing evidence gaps in clinical prevention research. The committee held both an open and a closed session. In the open session, the committee was joined by Dr. Carrie Klabunde, Senior Advisor for Disease Prevention at the NIH Office of Disease Prevention, who shared stories of success in disease prevention and discussed the process of informing national recommendations about clinical prevention services with the committee. This portion of the meeting was open to the public and conducted via Zoom. Following this discussion, the committee deliberated in a closed session on Zoom.
