Disrupting Stereotypes of Aging and Disability: A Workshop

A 1-day public workshop will explore how stereotypes and stereotype threat (i.e., the predicament in which an individual is at risk of conforming to a widely-known negative stereotype about his or her own group) affect older adults and adults with disabilities in terms of their health and their ability to be independent and participate in their communities. The workshop will feature invited presentations and discussions that will explore (1) the state of the knowledge about how stereotypes and stereotype threat affect older adults and adults with disabilities.
