About

Public health emergencies are becoming increasingly common and complex. State, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) public health agencies play a vital role in preparing for and responding to these emergencies. To save lives, prevent disruption to the social fabric of society, and mitigate damages and costs, public health practitioners and other response partners need clear and accessible guidance regarding effective practices that is supported by scientific evidence. A new National Academies report, Evidence-Based Practice for Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, highlights the current state of the evidence for public health emergency preparedness and response (PHEPR) and makes recommendations aimed at transforming the infrastructure, funding, and methods of PHEPR research to ensure that PHEPR practice is grounded in robust evidence for what works, where, why, and for whom. The report will be released on July 14, 2020. Committee members will provide an overview of the report and respond to questions during a webinar to be held at 3:30 pm ET on July 14th.
