Description
An ad hoc committee will plan and conduct a public workshop on how food technology can be leveraged to effect positive changes in obesity and health. It will feature invited presentations and discussion with expert leaders from academia, industry, and government to 1) discuss what is known about the behaviors of weight losers and maintainers, 2) identify the barriers that prevent people from losing weight or not becoming overweight, and 3) explore ways foods can be developed, packaged, and marketed in order to assist in obesity prevention and reduction efforts. An individually-authored summary of the workshop will subsequently be prepared.
