Description
An ad hoc committee will plan and conduct a public workshop, whose agenda will identify and examine key drivers behind the escalating cost of cancer care, as well as potential policy changes that could modify those drivers and help ensure affordable cancer care. The workshop, which will feature invited presentations and discussion, may examine topics such as:
· the use of biomarker and imaging tests,
· the impact of new technologies,
· the role of medical homes and care coordination; and
· the influence of healthcare payment mechanisms.
Workshop participants will also discuss potential ways to reduce cost escalation in cancer care while improving the quality of care and patient outcomes. A single individually authoredsummary of the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur based on the information gathered and the discussions held.
