Description
An ad hoc committee, in collaboration with representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Centre Nationnal de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), and the Egyptian Bibliotheca Alexandria (BA), will organize a series of workshops to intensify analyses of selected aspects of the roots and trajectories of violent extremism. The first workshop will be held in Russia, the second in Paris, the third in Egypt, and the fourth most likely in Russia or the U.S. At each workshop, experts from the participating countries will provide fresh insights on trends and dangers associated with violent extremism, while identifying areas of research and analysis that are of global interest. Topics will include: (a) lessons learned from case studies, (b) uses and limitations of data bases in providing insights concerning trends and reasons for outbreaks, and (c) voids in the research agendas in the four countries. A brief rapporteur-authored proceedings of the workshops will be published.
