Universities That Received Department of Defense 6.1 and 6.2 Funding in Fiscal Year 2002
Tables E-1 through E-3 show the top 50 university recipients of DOD 6.1, 6.2, and 6.1 + 6.2 funding in fiscal year 2002. The tables were constructed on the basis of data provided in personal communication from Mark Herbst, a member of the staff of the Office of the Director of Basic Research, within the Office of the Secretary of Defense, to James Garcia of the National Research Council. Institution names in boldface type and shaded background are those of universities at which committee members conducted site visits and interviews and/or held discussions with university research leaders who were not visited in person.
