A committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will conduct a consensus study that will seek to upgrade the scientific literature by recommending improvements to the processes used to correct errors in scientific articles, including editorial expressions of concern, errata, corrigendum, retractions, and other actions. The committee will examine international practices, as the scientific research enterprise is global. This session will provide a platform for experts and stakeholders across the South America Region to share perspectives on the challenges, barriers, innovations, and promising practices related to strengthening the correction of the scientific record.

The session will take place virtually on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (U.S. Eastern Standard Time, Washington, DC). Register to participate in the session, receive updates, and a notification of the report release expected in winter 2025.

A committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will conduct a consensus study that will seek to upgrade the scientific literature by recommending improvements to the processes used to correct errors in scientific articles, including editorial expressions of concern, errata, corrigendum, retractions, and other actions.
