The Forum for Children’s Well-Being, in partnership with the Brandeis University Institute for Child, Youth, and Family Policy, will host a virtual public workshop on April 21, 2021. The workshop will explore the research evidence on immigrant families’ access to U.S. social programs and its effects on children’s mental, emotional, and behavioral well-being. During this workshop, panelists will highlight promising public policy approaches that can mitigate these effects and promote healthy childhood.

Description
A planning committee will plan and conduct a public workshop that will explore the research evidence on immigrant families' access to U.S. social programs and its effects on children’s mental, emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being. During this 90 minute workshop, panelists will discuss the negative physical, cognitive, and behavioral health impacts of current immigration policies on children; and highlight promising public policy approaches that can mitigate these impacts and promote healthy childhood. The workshop will be open to the public.
The planning committee will formulate the goals and objectives for the workshop, select and invite speakers, develop the agenda, and moderate the discussion. At the conclusion of the workshop, a proceedings-in-brief will be prepared by a staff member in accordance with institutional guidelines.
