Join the the Government, University, Industry, and Philanthropy Research Roundtable for a workshop to explore the economic future of the U.S. Research Enterprise. Participants will discuss turning scientific capacity into productivity, jobs, and competitiveness through new funding models, regional partnerships, and university structural change; frameworks for measuring return on research investment; how emerging technologies reshape labor and innovation; and where coordinated action across government, universities, industry, and philanthropy can deliver lasting national value.
Description
A planning committee will organize the second workshop in the Government, University, Industry, and Philanthropy Research Roundtable (GUIPRR) series on Vision to Action, “The Economic Future of the U.S. Research Enterprise: From Vision to Value.” The workshop will explore how reforms to the U.S. research ecosystem can generate measurable economic and workforce outcomes. Specifically, participants will examine:
• the translation of scientific capacity into productivity, job creation, and national competitiveness using strategies such as new funding models, regional partnerships, or structural change within universities;
• frameworks for measuring return on research investment;
• the impact of emerging technologies on labor and innovation; and
• opportunities where coordinated action among government (federal, state, local, tribal), universities, industry, and philanthropy could deliver visible and lasting value for the nation.
