On November 28, 2017, the the National Academies Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity held a one-day workshop in Oakland, California, on Immigration as a Social Determinant of Health. This public workshop featured invited speaker presentations and discussions on the history of immigration laws and policies and how these laws and policies affect not only immigrant health, but population health more broadly. Description
An ad hoc committee will plan a one day, interactive public workshop exploring issues related to the role of immigration as a social determinant of health. The public workshop will feature invited presentations and discussions that will consider the history of immigration laws and policies and how these laws and policies affect not only immigrant health, but population health more broadly. The committee will plan and organize the workshop, select and invite speakers and discussants, and moderate the discussions. A proceedings of the presentations and discussions at the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
