Description
A planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will convene a one-day workshop on health literacy and virtual health services. The planning committee will organize and conduct the one-day public workshop, featuring invited presentations and moderated discussion on the challenges and opportunities associated with virtual/telemedicine for individuals with low health literacy. The workshop discussions will examine:
- The experiences of individuals with low health literacy with using virtual or telehealth services;
- Best practices for ensuring that individuals with low health literacy are able to obtain, process, understand and act upon health information and services provided virtually / through telehealth; and
- Health system and health care provider strategies for ensuring the delivery of health literate virtual health services.
The planning committee will define specific topics to be addressed, develop the agenda, select and invite speakers and other participants, and moderate the discussions. A proceedings of the presentations and discussions at the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
