QUICK - START GUIDE

Self-Directed Resiliency Toolkit

The Self-Directed Resiliency Toolkit was developed as part of ACRP Project 02-92, “Creating Self-Directed Resiliency Plans at General Aviation Airports” to provide general aviation (GA) airport managers—often limited in resources and staff—with the information, tools, and processes necessary to enhance resilience cost-effectively and efficiently. Resiliency plans provide foundational information for GA airports to begin to develop and mature their resilience planning and risk mitigation. The materials in the Resiliency Toolkit are intended to be scalable and implemented based on available personnel and resources and where an airport is in its resiliency-planning journey.

The Resiliency Toolkit will take users through the basic National Preparedness System process on a step-by-step basis. Its contents are integrated with each step, as depicted in Figure 1.

The toolkit consists of the following files:

  • Resilience Handbook: A manual that introduces the concept of resilience, reviews the research team’s approach, explains why resilience matters for GA airports, and describes the Resiliency Toolkit.
  • Tools: Resources included in the Resiliency Toolkit contain background information, instructions, and suggestions for how each could be used (see Table 1).
  • Toolkit Brochure (PDF): A concise and visually pleasing brochure, which can be circulated to airport stakeholders, that will explain the Resiliency Toolkit and the benefits of engaging in resiliency planning for GA airports.
  • Toolkit Overview (PowerPoint): A PowerPoint presentation stakeholders may download that will walk through the different tools available in the Resiliency Toolkit, the appropriate situations in which to use them, and how to implement resiliency planning in a cost-effective manner.
  • Toolkit Quick-Start Guide: A step-by-step guide for stakeholders interested in jumping straight into resiliency planning, including directions for using all the tools in the Resiliency Toolkit.
