Symposium Explores Arizona’s Future Power Grid

Program News

The National Academies’ Climate Crossroads Initiative held a one-day symposium, Building the Grid of the Future, in Tempe, Arizona. Hosted at the Tempe Center for the Arts and livestreamed online, this event engaged Arizona experts from electric utilities, government, academia, and members of the public in discussions on existing strengths, future challenges, and what will be needed to support the future of Arizona’s electric grid.

Droughts Are More Than Just a Lack of Rain

Drought does not always look like a dried-up reservoir or a parched landscape. It can take hold in places that receive plenty of rain, develop rapidly after a wet spring, or occur alongside increasingly intense rainfall and flooding.
