Climate Change Implications for Population Health: A Workshop

On March 13, 2017, the Roundtable on Environmental Health Sciences, Research and Medicine, and the Roundtable on Population Health Improvement held a joint workshop on Protecting the Health and Wellbeing of Communities in a Changing Climate.

Description

An ad hoc committee will plan and convene a one-day public workshop exploring the implications of climate change for population health and the potential strategies public health, environmental health, health care, and related stakeholders can implement to help communities and regions address and mitigate health effects. The committee will develop the agenda and identify meeting objectives, select appropriate speakers, and moderate the discussions. The workshop will explore the perspectives of civic, government, business, and health sector leaders, and highlight existing research, best practices, and examples that inform stakeholders and practitioners on approaches to support mitigation of and adaptation to climate change and its effects on population health. A brief proceedings of a workshop and a complete proceedings based on the presentations and discussions at the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur in accordance with institutional guidelines.
