As part of Public Law 117-168 (PACT Act), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) was directed to contract with the National Academies to review and assess their revised administrative Presumption Decision Process (PDP). This process will be used to evaluate the evidence for relationships between medical conditions and possible military environmental exposures, and the process by which a condition is considered for presumption related benefits and health care eligibility. The review will examine whether the process is consistent with current scientific standards for weight of the evidence assessments and whether the proposed criteria are fair and consistent.
